What a joy to open Instagram and find this lovely news: I have been chosen for the La Hormiguita Viajera 2026 National and Latin American Award for Children’s and Young Adult Literature, in the Masters of Masters category. And I share it with colleagues I deeply admire: Isol, Antonio Santa Ana, Gustavo Bombini and Ana María Bovo. Being on that list, alongside people who have done and continue to do so much for reading, moves me and fills me with gratitude.
La Hormiguita Viajera was created in 2009 by the Madre Teresa Public Library in Virrey del Pino, La Matanza, and its name pays tribute to the well-known story by Constancio C. Vigil. Since then, every year it has honored writers, illustrators, storytellers, teachers, librarians and researchers who leave their mark on children’s and young adult literature in Argentina and Latin America. That is why it is such a cherished award in the children’s literature community.
The award ceremony will take place on Friday, December 11, at the Leonardo Favio Auditorium of the Library of the National Congress. Thank you.
