Lara has never been so burdened by her grandmother’s silence and her eyes in a lost stare
as she is now, when she has to take care of her for a few days. The one who doesn’t talk much either is Maureen, the Haitian doctor’s daughter who has just moved to town, although that only increases Lara’s desire to get to know her better. But when her grandmother and Maureen begin to exchange words in French, Lara witnesses that every silence contains a story. And also that opening a story can make your voice be heard again.
