The team led by the anthropologist Vera Larsen manages to rescue an Inca mummy which they call “The Red Maiden” from the top of the highest volcano in America. The news causes shock among scientists around the world and among the inhabitants of the province of Catamarca. But for Andean communities a delicate balance has been broken. What seemed like an incredible find will suddenly become a loss: the Maiden will mysteriously disappear without a trace.
